Launch EL Charter School Statement on the Murder of George Floyd
The murder of George Floyd and the events of the past week have been heartbreaking. As a public school, we believe it is our responsibility to speak out for justice. At Launch, we have adopted a definition of educational equity for our school that states, in part, that “cultivating discrimination-free communities…is a basic responsibility of everyone in civil society.”
We condemn the racist systems that perpetuate discrimination and death in communities of color. We support the actions of peaceful protestors raising their voices to promote an antiracist society. We believe it is our mission to support our incredible students in developing the skills and the character to disrupt inequities in society and build a better world. We support, arm in arm, all of the people who are working with urgency right now to do just that.
