Launch supports students to become effective learners and ethical people who contribute to a better world. We serve all students in our community, on a path to college and career success. Launch prepares students to be independent, resilient, responsible, self-aware thinkers who advocate for and defend their learning.
I am the kind of person who always strives to get better. I am both expressive and vocal and Launch helps me make my voice heard. I think Launch is a true community and we are always trying to help each other out. In class if someone is struggling with something there are always peers or teachers to help out so everyone understands in the end. Outside of Launch, I am a TEAK Fellow. They are helping me make sure I am ready for private high school.
I am from East Flatbush and I like to dance. At Launch, I love the expeditions because it gives me an opportunity to learn outside my classroom. The Walkout to End Gun Violence impacted me because it showed me what was going on right here in my neighborhood and what I can do to make a change. Next year I am proud that I am going to Bard Early College High School!
I am a 6th grader and Launch is a great school for me because it makes me feel safe even when I am upset. I feel welcome here because people have had all different kinds of experiences. I like being around people who show me how to do the right thing and help me make good choices. My favorite class is math because I get a lot of opportunities to practice problems so I can improve. Both inside school and outside school I love to dance. I am always dancing, that’s what makes me feel happy inside.
I’m in seventh grade and I am very true to my word. I make sure that the people around me stay positive. My parents originate from Guinea, so they faced a lot of adversity when they came to America. They told me about how they overcame big challenges and how I can do the same. Launch has taught me a lot about who I am and who I can become. I used to want to be an actress, but now I have been exposed to more jobs. I want to be an interior designer, but I want to design with the computer because I really can’t draw.
I am a photographer. I am grateful to Launch because I just got into my first choice high school, Art and Design, for Visual Art. Launch has helped me think about my future since 6th grade. I want you to know that I have an IEP which has helped me get a lot of small group support and grow as a reader. I have attended my IEP meetings and I know I’ve met all of my goals. Learning is interesting here because we play games and do projects that help us learn.
I am in 6th grade and I’m a Launch student ambassador. My family is from the Dominican Republic. Outside of school I like to play baseball and soccer and to draw. I think Launch is a great school for kids because it helps you become and better student and person in general. My favorite thing is X-block every Friday. It’s an elective period where you get to express yourself and do your hobbies.
I am from Haiti and I have been living in Brooklyn for 7 years. I am a confident person who takes initiative. I have become more independent and compassionate both because of my crew and my classmates. Next year I will attend the NYC iSchool in Manhattan and I want to study law in order to become a judge.
I am a very active person, I love moving around and playing sports. Launch has prioritized the things I need so that I can reach my full potential. I have had a lot of opportunities to communicate with different kinds of people to help me keep an open mind about the world. Science is definitely my favorite subject because I’ve had had a chance to learn about new things in creative ways. Science makes me curious.
